10 Affordable AK-47 Accessories

10 Affordable AK-47 Accessories

There has been a long-standing (friendly) argument in the Cheaper Than Dirt! office—your either Team AR or Team AK. Plenty of gun folks have strong opinions about which is the better rifle. Personally, I believe there is a time and place for every rifle under heaven, so in this case, I bat for both teams.
As more and more people get into modern sporting weapons, manufacturers of firearms and accessories are answering the call from those who want to deck out their AK-47 with stocks, grips, handguards and rail systems that just about rival the availability of accessories for the AR-15. In fact, I have seen so many modifications that if not for the telltale receiver, I would barely recognize the prolific rifle.
Though not as modular or adaptable as the AR-15, there are still plenty of upgrade options for the AK owner that make it more accurate and fun to shoot. Here are our suggestions—products that work for us—for the top ten most affordable AK-47 upgrades and accessories available at Cheaper Than Dirt!

Texas: Major Victories for Gun Owners in the Lone Star State as Legislature Adjourns

Texas: Major Victories for Gun Owners in the Lone Star State as Legislature Adjourns

Tuesday, June 02, 2015
As the Texas Legislature adjourns for 2015, the National Rifle Association is proud to have supported numerous successful bills on behalf of its more than 500,000 members throughout the state.
“Despite the best efforts of gun control groups funded by New York City billionaire Michael Bloomberg, Texas gun owners enjoyed several important victories this year,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “We’ll continue to defend the Second Amendment and fight for the ability of law abiding citizens to exercise their constitutional rights.”
The NRA’s accomplishments this session include;
  • Passage of House Bill 910, open carry legislation, sponsored by state Representative Larry Phillips and state Senator Craig Estes, which removes the requirement that Concealed Handgun Licensees keep their firearms concealed and allows them to carry in a belt or shoulder holster. This brings the total number of states recognizing this right to 44.
  • A significant step forward was taken for Concealed Handgun Licensees who wish to protect themselves on the campuses of public colleges and universities with the approval of Senate Bill 11, sponsored by state Senator Brian Birdwell and state Representative Allen Fletcher.  Schools will no longer be able to enforce a blanket prohibition against that right on their campuses.
  • Senate Joint Resolution 22, sponsored by state Senator Brandon Creighton and state Representative Trent Ashby, will place a constitutional amendment on the November 2015 ballot asking voters to affirm the individual right to hunt and fish in the Lone Star State.
  • Senate Bill 273, sponsored by state Senator Donna Campbell and state Representative Ryan Guillen, imposes civil fines on state agencies, cities or counties which improperly post 30.06 signs prohibiting CHLs from public property that is not otherwise off-limits to them in the Penal Code.
The Bloomberg funded gun control group Everytown, along with local affiliate, Moms Demand Gun Sense, spent significant resources in direct opposition to most of these proposals through public rallies, lobbying, and media buys. Texans rejected these efforts and instead expanded their Second Amendment freedoms.
“We appreciate the hard work of our sponsors, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, House leadership, and our legislative supporters for helping achieve these important accomplishments for gun owners in the 2015 session,” Cox concluded.
House Bill 910, Senate Bill 11 and Senate Bill 273 now head to Governor Greg Abbott for his expected signature.

Texas legislature approves openly carrying handguns

Texas legislature approves openly carrying handguns

Reuters

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - The Republican-dominated Texas legislature approved a measure on Friday that would allow for openly carrying handguns in public in the state, a bill the governor has pledged to sign.

Deadline Looms for Open Carry Legislation in Texas!

Deadline Looms for Open Carry Legislation in Texas!

Members who have fought long and hard for the passage of Open Carry legislation this session must continue to call their state Senator and state Representative and strongly urge them to adopt the conference committee report on HB 910 when it comes before them for consideration.  Otherwise, the bill will die on Sunday if the legislative process is not complete.   This is our last chance this session!  Click the button below to take action now!
After having established a 20-year record of law-abiding and responsible behavior, Texas CHLs have earned this personal protection option that 43 states currently allow. HB 910 has been sent to a conference committee to resolve differences between each chamber's version in a final conference report. The report must be voted on by each chamber no later than midnight on Sunday, May 31.
Similarly, Senate Bill 11 will also be sent to a conference committee and both chambers must approve its conference report by Sunday, May 31.  It is important that you also contact your state Senator and state Representative and urge them to support the conference report on SB 11 when it comes before them for a vote.
Senate Bill 11 removes restrictions in state law that prohibit law-abiding Concealed Handgun Licensees from protecting themselves on college and university campuses.  This bill is NOT, as the anti-gun crowd wrongfully claims, about hordes of underage students "packing heat" in backpacks.  This is about removing a limit on self-defense for adults 21 or older who live, work or study on a campus and who have passed a background check, completed firearms training and been issued a license by the state's top law enforcement agency.

I found the 5-year NRA membership renewal a good value and very easy to do. I also found the price a better value than what was being offered by NRA directly. Good job USA Midway!!

Good deal on membership. Stand and fight
By

Updated my membership to support our right to make our own choices. Gun ownership should remain as one of our choices, not the government. Everyone knows criminals will always have access to guns. Law abiding citizens certainly should too. Support this worthy cause even if you currently do not choose to own a gun yourself. Your neighbor or friend may have to someday defend you or your family with their gun.

Stronger and better than NRA of old
from Southeast US

Finally rejoined, NRA has gotten much more "in your face" with both groups of politicians. They are really doing a good job of pushing back on the ridiculous pandering of the anti-gun left that wants to make you completely dependent on government police forces for your safety. If you only belong to one gun rights organization this is your best choice.

Discounted Cost and Handy

The price was discounted when I needed to renew my membership so I took advantage of it. It took a while before I got any confirmation from the NRA showing that I was successful otherwise it was an overall good experience. I would renew again this way if the price discount existed next year.
